Samples of Realistic Scenery
While it may be true that we ask our audience to suspend their disbelief, it is sometimes helpful to give them a sense of realism. Texture and color play a major role in telling the audience what kind of environment is at hand.
Nice interior shot of a simulated New York loft.
A close up of brick CNC carved from Celotex and windows made from polycarbonate printing film.
This was done for As You Like It. Ground cork was used to simulate dirt for the wrestling and some forest scenes.
A traditional interior.
Detail of the frosted window created with beer, epsom salt and gaff tape.
Opening scene of Stuff Happens, suggesting the Situation Room.
A scene in the conservatory. All of the moldings were fabricated in house.
A moment at the end of the show. The design needed a homestead cabin. I chose to use #4 pine planks as they were affordable and fairly light. There is real dirt contained by a low boundary board and a plastic underlayment. The dirt was kept moist to avoid dust.
A realistic interior with traditional moldings. Transom windows are frosted with a beer & epsom salt blend.
The show required a realistic back yard "Garden" that is the corollary space to the "House". The walls are sculpted EPS and Celotex, the grass is purchased raffia mat.
